Support

A question, a problem, an idea? Write to us: contact@websolutis.com.

The easiest way is Dusty's Help › Send Feedback… menu: it prepares an email with the Dusty version, the system and the machine, which helps us understand. Nothing is sent unless you send it. We answer in English or French, usually within a few days.

Finding help in Dusty

Frequently asked questions

Dusty does not find my machine over USB

Open the Connection Assistant… (Machine panel, Connection section): it tries the ports and baud rates without moving anything, and tells you what is missing. On Windows, install the driver of the board's USB adapter (most often CH340 or CP210x); on Linux, the user must be allowed to open the serial port (dialout group). Use a USB data cable, not a charging-only cable.

Which controllers does Dusty run?

GRBL 1.1, grblHAL, FluidNC, Duet, Smoothieware and Marlin directly. For others (Mach3, LinuxCNC…), save the G-code in your controller's flavor and send it with its own software.

Can I try it without a machine?

Yes: the built-in virtual CNC connects like a real machine and plays back all of the machine control (homing, zero, machining, alarms) without moving anything.

How do I stop everything?

STOP (the red button always in sight, ⌘. on Mac, Ctrl+. on Windows and Linux) stops the machine at once, spindle included. It is a software stop: also keep the machine's emergency stop within reach.

The Windows version

Dusty for Windows is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which installs and updates it. It needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11; WebView2, which Dusty's window uses, is part of Windows 11 and installed on Windows 10 by Windows Update.

Where are my settings and machines?

In the app's data folder, on your device. Export a Starter Package…, in Settings, puts them in a single file, to back them up or bring them to another computer.

What does Dusty do with my data?

Nothing leaves your device, except anonymous usage statistics that you can turn off. See the privacy policy.

Reporting a problem

Tell us what you were doing, what you expected and what happened. If you can, attach the .dusty project (or the G-code), a screenshot and the message shown by Dusty or by the machine.
